Booking & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Welcome to Good Owners Dog Training.
These policies are designed to help sessions run safely, fairly, and calmly for all clients, dogs, and households.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
1. Booking Sessions
Sessions must be booked in advance through direct contact with Good Owners Dog Training.
Bookings are confirmed once:
- A session date and time has been agreed
- Required intake information has been provided
- Payment has been received where applicable
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue services where:
- A case falls outside our scope of practice
- Veterinary assessment or specialist behavioural support is more appropriate
- Safety or welfare concerns are identified
2. Payment Terms
Payment is currently accepted via UK bank transfer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Payment may be required:
- At the time of booking, or
- Within the timeframe stated during booking confirmation
Unpaid bookings may be cancelled or released to other clients.
3. Cancellation by Clients
We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations can occur.
More Than 48 Hours Notice:
Where at least 48 hours notice is provided, sessions may normally be:
- Rescheduled, or
- Refunded where appropriate
Less Than 48 Hours Notice:
Where less than 48 hours notice is provided, we may retain some or all of the session fee to reflect the short-notice loss of the appointment space.
However, each situation will be considered reasonably and fairly.
Missed Appointments / No-Shows:
If a client does not attend a scheduled session without notice, the session will usually be treated as used.
Repeated missed appointments or repeated short-notice cancellations may result in:
- Future bookings requiring upfront payment
- Refusal of future bookings where appropriate
4. Cancellation by Good Owners Dog Training
We may occasionally need to cancel or rearrange sessions due to:
- Illness
- Emergencies
- Unsafe travel or weather conditions
- Safety concerns
- Dog welfare concerns
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control
Where possible, reasonable notice will be provided.
Affected sessions will normally be:
- Rearranged, or
- Refunded where appropriate
5. Session Attendance & Safety
Owners remain legally responsible for their dog at all times during sessions.
Dogs must:
- Be handled using safe and suitable equipment
- Remain under appropriate control
- Comply with applicable UK dog control legislation
We may pause, end, or refuse sessions where:
- Safety cannot reasonably be maintained
- A dog is experiencing excessive distress
- Veterinary assessment is recommended before continuing
- Welfare concerns are identified
Good Owners Dog Training uses force-free and welfare-focused training methods and does not use punishment-based or intentionally aversive techniques.
6. Children at Sessions
Parents or guardians remain responsible for supervising children attending sessions at all times.
Children should only interact with dogs under appropriate adult supervision.
7. Health & Behaviour Information
Clients must provide accurate and honest information regarding:
- Behaviour history
- Bite history
- Medical conditions
- Medication changes
- Known risks or triggers
Failure to provide relevant safety or behavioural information may result in services being paused or discontinued.
Where appropriate, clients may be referred to a veterinary professional or qualified behaviour specialist.
8. Training Outcomes
Dog behaviour and training outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Progress depends on many factors, including:
- Health
- Environment
- Stress levels
- Lifestyle
- Consistency between sessions
- Owner implementation
- Individual temperament and history
Our role is to provide ethical, evidence-aligned guidance and structured support tailored to the individual dog and household.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Clients remain responsible for:
- Their own dog’s behaviour
- Any damage or injury caused by their dog unless resulting from our negligence
Good Owners Dog Training will take reasonable care in delivering services safely and professionally.
10. Online & Remote Bookings
Where services are booked online or remotely, you may have cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
However, where you request that services begin within the 14-day cancellation period, you may lose part or all of your cancellation rights once services have been delivered.
