Good Owners Dog Training

1. General Information

All services provided by Good Owners Dog Training are based on force-free, welfare-led, and evidence-aligned training principles and do not use aversive equipment or punishment-based handling methods.

Advice and guidance are provided to support owners in working with their own dogs but do not constitute veterinary, medical, or clinical behavioural diagnosis.

By engaging in any in-person service, you acknowledge that dog training involves variables outside of our control, including but not limited to environment, handler consistency, and the dog’s individual history.

2. Owner Responsibility

You remain fully responsible for:

  • Handling and managing your dog unless otherwise agreed during a supervised training exercise
  • The safety and control of your dog during sessions
  • Following all handling, management, and safety guidance provided

You agree to:

  • Use appropriate equipment (e.g. secure lead, well-fitted harness)
  • Disclose any known behavioural concerns, bite history, or triggers in advance
  • Maintain safe distances from other people and dogs where advised
  • Failure to disclose relevant behavioural history may result in services being paused or terminated where safety or welfare may be compromised.

3. Risk Acknowledgement

You understand and accept that:

  • Dogs are animals capable of unpredictable behaviour
  • There is an inherent risk of injury to yourself, your dog, the trainer, or third parties
  • Training may involve controlled exposure to mild stressors as part of behaviour change

You voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation in training sessions.

4. Limitation of Liability

Good Owners Dog Training will not be responsible for losses or injuries arising from:

  • Undisclosed behavioural history
  • Failure to follow safety guidance
  • Unsafe handling by the owner
  • Circumstances outside reasonable control

Nothing in this agreement excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is not permitted under UK law.

5. No Guarantees

While all training is delivered using best-practice, evidence-aligned methods, no specific behavioural outcomes or timelines are guaranteed.
Progress depends on multiple factors, including:

  • Consistency of implementation
  • The dog’s history and environment
  • Owner capacity and lifestyle

6. Health & Behavioural Conditions

You confirm that:

  • Your dog is in good physical health or any conditions have been disclosed
  • You will seek veterinary advice for any medical concerns affecting behaviour

Good Owners Dog Training does not work with:

  • Dogs presenting a level of aggression or bite risk beyond the scope of Good Owners Dog Training.
  • Cases requiring clinical behavioural intervention

Such cases will be referred to a qualified veterinarian or accredited behaviourist.

Good Owners Dog Training does not diagnose medical or behavioural disorders. Behaviour change may require veterinary assessment to rule out pain, illness, neurological conditions, or other underlying medical factors.

7. Session Safety & Termination

Good Owners Dog Training reserves the right to:

  • Pause or terminate a session if safety is at risk
  • Refuse or discontinue services if a case falls outside scope
  • Require additional management measures before continuing

No refund will be issued where sessions are terminated due to undisclosed risk or unsafe handling.

8. Environmental & External Factors

Training outcomes may be affected by:

  • Public environments and uncontrolled distractions
  • Presence of other dogs or people
  • Weather, noise, or unexpected events

These factors are outside of our control and form part of real-world training conditions.

9. Media & Recording (Optional)

Sessions may occasionally be recorded or photographed for educational or promotional purposes.
You will always be asked for explicit consent before any media is used publicly.

10. Data Protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK GDPR requirements.

11. Insurance Statement

Good Owners Dog Training maintains appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

10. Agreement

By booking or attending any in-person session, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood this Disclaimer & Liability Waiver
  • You accept full responsibility for your dog
  • You agree to participate at your own risk
